My top 10 Best Gluten Free restaurants

Here is the list of my most favourite places in Montreal to eat. This is not just a list of gluten-free friendly restaurants, but also of a really good service, great vibes and fun time! The only advice is to ALWAYS let waiter know you have a gluten free allergy, I tend to mention it few times..but better be safe than sorry! This is the list of places that never failed me.

  1. My number one most favourite restaurant is Chez L’epicier. It is located in the heart of Old Montreal across the street from Marche Bonsecours. This is a wonderful place for a great night out! They are not gluten free facility, but they can modify any dish for you and are very professional about it. I love coming here..and make sure to try strawberry macarons, that they make in house. The best!chezLepicier
  2. Spanel, 1960 Rue Notre-Dame O, Montréal, QC H3J 1M8               I love coming here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. They use buckwheat flour to make the most delicious gluten free crêpes! I order Quebecois crepe, it is also dairy free. There is a terrace, super chilled place to have breakfast on the weekend. gf-crepes-spanel-quebecois
  3.  Duo D, beautiful french bistro in Griffintown is run by a husband and wife. They are right now #9 on trip advisor out of almost 5 thousand restaurants in Montreal and lucky for us they can modify any dish to be gluten free! Just go there!bistro-duoD
  4. Arepera du Plateau is 100% gluten free facility. Arepas are traditional Venezuelan/Colombian hand made 100% corn, gluten-free bread. This place is just awesome, fast and safe. arepa montreal gluten free
  5. Another 100% gluten free heaven is Crudessence, it’s a vegan restaurant with few locations in Montreal. I love everything there! Have fun and explore the creativity!crudessense-om-burger
  6. If you are into sushi, Park Restaurant in Westmount is a very popular and amazing place. It is pricey, but it’s worth it. The ingredients are always fresh,  the dishes are very creative and the vibe is very energetic. park
  7. Holder – amazing service and delicious food! This european style brasserie is always busy. It’s great for groups and for dates. Steak tartare is my favourite!
  8. The Keg Steakhouse, with few locations in Montreal is always a safe choice if you want a great steak. They take food allergies and sensitivities very serious, chef or manager always comes out to talk to you!
  9. Point G – Gluten free Macarons!! I know, I know they are supposed to be always gluten free..but they are not. In most other places in Montreal, they add gluten to fillings or they just keep them next to other gluten deserts, so it is not safe. But Point G is safe and proud! Love them!pointg-macarons-2
  10. Ice Cream Bilboquet. They have few locations all over Montreal. I go there for mango coconut sorbet that I cant believe is not ice cream – gluten free and dairy free, its truly heaven for a person with multiple food sensitivities.

    Karen - Hi!
If you are a Celiac, you should be careful with L’Arepera. I have been many times and was sick from what I ate there. They don’t use food products that are certified gluten-free (spices, cornstarch, etc). I stopped going because it was pointless to go since it made me so sick. I have been on the g-f diet for over 10 years.ReplyCancel
